Proof of Human Evolution

This is a picture of Lucy's skeleton.
Some of the proof of human evolution comes from similarities between humans and apes. For example, humans, chimpanzees and bonbos share 98.4% of DNA. We also get similar or the same diseases, have a similar arrangement of internal organs, are omnivorous, have similar eye placement on face and types of teeth, and have opposable thumbs and fingernails. All humans have the ability to grow tails, the gene is simply switched off in early development (some babies actually are born with tails, this is rare, but it happens). African populations have the most diversity (scientists think that humans started in Africa). A partial, fossilized skeleton was found (has since been named “Lucy” though the gender is unknown) that is supposed to be the “missing link” between humans and apes and has been identified as an Australopithecus afarensis.
Disproof for Human Evolution

Many of the “proofs”for human evolution can easily be disproved. A more recent study showed that humans, chimpanzees and bonbos only share 86.7% of DNA, and chimpanzees have 10% more DNA than humans to start with. Humans share 75% of our DNA with the nematode, a soil-dwelling worm, yet scientists don’t say that we share a common ancestor with worms (other than the very first life forms). 80% of the proteins in humans and chimpanzees are different, chimpanzees are less susceptible to malaria and cholera than humans, and human molars are smaller and more compact than chimpanzees’. The fossil record of living great apes is poor- the orangutan is the only great ape with a fossil record, and there aren’t any African fossils related to chimpanzees or gorillas. Lucy’s species of primate didn’t use tools but lived alongside humanoids that did; this proves that Lucy may not be the “missing link”. Plus, only 40% of Lucy’s skeleton was found. Many links are missing that “prove” the various stages of human evolution. Another disproof for human evolution is the same for the evolution of life- fossils can and have been faked.
There are also some loopholes in evolution that don’t disprove a proof. Studying the brain showed the clearest evidence of what separates humans and other primates. Humans have larger brains than other primates and had three to four times the change in genes in the brain as chimpanzees. 214 genes that are involved in the human brain would’ve had to have had hyper-fast evolution for them to be their present size. One main thing that differentiates humans and animals is language- subhuman primates can never have true linguistic ability. Finally, in the 1960’s, doctors tried to do chimpanzee to human organ transplants- all of them failed.
